Seed heads on tall grass against a low sun

Evansville, Indiana

An Evansville practice. Same counselor, every session.

A solo Evansville private practice, working entirely by video across Indiana and Illinois. You see me, not whoever the schedule assigned this month.

01

Why solo matters here

Larger practices rotate counselors, run waitlists and hand you to whoever has an opening. That is a reasonable business model and it is not this one.

Here there is one counselor and one continuous conversation. Twenty-six years of it, from this city.

  • Individual therapy for adults and teens.
  • Couples counseling.
  • Video sessions anywhere in Indiana and Illinois, so nobody drives anywhere.
  • Self-pay only, with an out-of-network superbill provided.

Who comes in

Tradespeople, business owners, physicians, teachers, first responders, farmers, retirees, students. Evansville is a working city and the caseload reflects it.

A lot of them are men who did not want to be here, sent by a wife or finally pushed by something at work, and their couples.

Most men say fine. Is fine good enough?

03

Telehealth, and what that means here

I want to be straight about the arrangement before anything else, because local searches usually assume a waiting room. There is no waiting room. This practice is telehealth only and every session happens by video. 20 NW First St., Suite 204, Evansville, IN 47708 is the practice address on paper. It is not a place you come to sit.

That is a deliberate choice rather than a temporary one. Video removes the drive, the parking, the hour of your day spent getting to and from a building, and the odds of running into someone you know in a hallway. What it does not remove is the conversation, which is the part that actually does the work.

One practical note that matters more than people expect: Vanderburgh County runs on Central time. Half of Indiana does not. If you are booking from Indianapolis, Fort Wayne or anywhere else on Eastern time, confirm the hour in the state you are physically sitting in, because a missed session over a time zone is a frustrating way to start.

04

Why choose someone in your own city for video

If every session is by video, you could pick a counselor three hundred miles away. Plenty of people do. Here is the honest case for choosing someone who lives where you live.

I know the employers. I know what a rotating shift at a plant does to a marriage, what the drive out to a jobsite costs a man before he has even started, what call schedules do to physicians and what a bad quarter does to a small business owner in this town. You will not spend the first twenty minutes explaining your industry to me.

I know the rest of it too. The churches, the schools, the neighborhoods, the way a name travels here. Evansville is big enough to have real anonymity and small enough that everybody knows whose truck is parked where. That is not paranoia. In a mid-size city it is a genuine reason men do not go get help, and I would rather say it out loud than pretend the concern is silly. Video handles it. Nobody sees your vehicle outside anything.

And I have been doing this from here for twenty-six years, in solo private practice the whole time. That is a long stretch of the same city, the same kinds of weeks, the same conversations, which is worth something on the day you are trying to explain what is going on at your house.

Nobody sees your truck outside a counselor's office when the session is in your own house.

Getting an appointment

Text or call (812) 760-5528. Scheduling happens in a short conversation.

The first session is mostly about rapport and fit. You will know by the end of it whether you want to come back.

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, because the hour is held for you.

Questions about this

No. The practice is telehealth only, so every session happens by video. 20 NW First St., Suite 204, Evansville, IN 47708 is a mailing address, not a place you attend.

Indiana residents nearby, yes, by video. Kentucky residents cannot be seen, because licensure follows where you are sitting and I am licensed in Indiana and Illinois only.

A private space where you are physically located in Indiana or Illinois, a phone or laptop, and an hour that is actually yours.

Next step

By video, this week if there is room.

Text (812) 760-5528, or call, or send the form with the days that work.

If calling is more than you want to do today, text.
