Most men who call me are one of three men.
More than fine
You built something. The career works, the money works, the outside of it looks right. And somewhere in the last few years it stopped meaning much.
You are not depressed in a way anyone would notice. You are just running a life you would not choose again, and saying fine when people ask.
Fine is a low bar for a man who has cleared every other one.
Competent everywhere except at home
You are good at your work. People rely on you. Then you walk in the door and none of it transfers.
The same directness that makes you effective at nine in the morning makes it worse at nine at night. You have tried being right, and you have tried being quiet, and neither one worked.
You do not want to be managed. You want to be competent in your own marriage.

Looking for meaning
You did the things. The list is finished. Nobody mentioned that the list was not the point.
This is the one men are most reluctant to say out loud, because it sounds ungrateful. It is not. It is the most common thing I hear from men who have succeeded at everything they aimed at.
If you recognized yourself in any of those, that is enough to text.
If calling is more than you want to do today, text.
For someone else
If you are reading this for him
A lot of the people who find this page are not the man it describes. They are his wife.
You cannot make him call. What you can do is hand him something that does not feel like an ambush, and this page is written to be that.
What I would tell you: he is more likely to come in if it is framed as one hour to look at one specific thing, rather than as therapy in general. And he is more likely to stay if the first hour does not go the way he is bracing for.
If it is the two of you who need the room, that is couples counseling, and it is the other half of what I do.
What this actually is
Sixty minutes with a man who has been doing this for twenty-six years and will tell you what he sees.
I am direct. I am not going to nod at you for an hour. I am also not going to hand you a list of what is wrong with you. You already have that list, and you have been reading it to yourself at three in the morning.
We work out which problem you actually have, what it is costing you, and what you are doing that makes it heavier than it has to be.
No couch. No clipboard. No exercises you would be embarrassed to do.
How the work runs
Cognitive behavioral therapy, which in practice means we look at what you are telling yourself without noticing, and whether any of it holds up.
Two ideas do most of the lifting. Cattle sense a storm and run away from it, which keeps them in it longer. Buffalo turn and run at it. The fastest way out is through.
And when you tell yourself you are finished, you are at about forty percent. What stopped you was a thought, not a limit.
Only one kind of person goes to therapy. Courageous people go to therapy.
Questions men actually ask
Good, because that is not what this is. We work on what is happening and what you are going to do about it. Feelings come up as information, not as the assignment.
No. Plenty of men get here that way. What matters is whether you decide to use the hour once you are in it.
No. I will ask you to be honest, which is a different and harder thing, and it is the useful one.
It depends what you bring and how honest you are willing to be. Some men come for eight sessions with one specific thing and leave when it is handled. I will tell you when I think we are done.
Say so. Rapport matters more than credentials, and not every therapist fits every person. I would rather point you somewhere better than take your money for a year.

Next step
One hour. Then you decide.
Call (812) 760-5528, or send the form and tell me which days work. Nothing is going to be sold to you.
If calling is more than you want to do today, text.
